Events

FID will take part in the upcoming Innovation Day hosted by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) on June 28th in Rome, Italy. FID will coordinate a session focusing on the synergies between researchers and innovation-driven organizations to address rural development challenges.

How can innovation and impact evaluation serve rural populations? FID will engage in this reflection during Innovation Day, organized by IFAD in Rome on June 28th.

This event will bring together high-level representatives and international experts from IFAD member states, the private sector, universities, research institutes, civil society, United Nations agencies, and other multilateral organizations.

This session’s focus: Innovation and impact evaluation

FID will hold a session on the role of innovation and impact evaluation in addressing the challenges faced by the most vulnerable rural communities. In this session, entitled "Funding evidence-based innovative solutions to rural development challenges: the case of the Fund for Innovation in Development," FID’s Deputy Director Claire Bernard will be sharing FID’s first results, two years after its establishment, regarding the financing of innovation for rural development.

Tanguy Bernard, Professor at the University of Bordeaux, will reflect on the role of funding mechanisms such as FID in fostering the experimentation of innovative solutions to generate high-impact outcomes and scale up policies in favor of rural populations.

Dr. Denis Muchangi, Lecturer at Kirinyaga University, and Eveline Jansen, Regional Program Manager at Enviu, both based in Kenya, will present their projects supported by FID and their challenges.

Encouraging innovation for vulnerable communities

By supporting high-impact innovations, FID seeks to promote sustainable and effective approaches to provide solutions in various areas, such as agriculture, access to primary services, and natural resource management. FID is committed to fostering innovations that transform communities and contribute to improving the lives of vulnerable populations.

The event, in English only, will also be available online.
